Softline Introduces BusinessVision 32 Small Business Edition at AICPA Tech 2002 Conference

Washington, D.C. – May 8, 2002 – Softline Software’s new president, Murray Aston, today unveiled the Small Business Edition of the BusinessVision 32 product family. The addition is built upon the company’s flagship business accounting system BusinessVision 32. "The third unique product edition developed for an expanding demand for a true business management software system that meets the specific needs of the younger small businesses. The latest generation of small business owners require an integrated business management solution that can grow with the business.," said Aston. "We are especially interested in reaching businesses that do not have the resources to support a full in-house IT department."

The announcement was made at the annual AICPA Tech 2002 Conference, the premier technology showcase event geared specifically for the CPA community.

"We have tailored the Small Business Edition to meet the needs of private-practice CPAs to be a right-priced, robust accounting software system they can recommend or re-sell to their clients," Aston explained.

BusinessVision 32 – available in Standard, Small Business and Client-Server editions – is a fully-realized Windows-based accounting system. It was designed from the outset to operate simply in most SME and Mid-Market businesses with minimal support. Looking toward the next generation of systems, BusinessVision worked with value-added resellers and end-users to define next-step needs, and determined that business niche-specific templates would provide the greatest add-on benefit to end users in the current market.

BusinessVision 32’s Small Business Edition is a fully-realized Windows-based accounting solution, based on a system that has effectively evolved over the past decade to take advantage of technological innovations to support current business needs. It offers the features commonly available now only to mid-market and larger enterprises using much higher-priced systems that often require strong internal IT support.

"This new Small Business Edition was designed from the outset to operate simply in most SME businesses with minimal IT support," said Geni Whitehouse, CPA, and chief operating officer at Accounting Software Advisor. "In defining the product, BusinessVision worked with CPAs and value-added resellers, and learned that CPAs feel the market has been crowded with a variety of low-end checkbook-based accounting systems that, for all their claims, do little more than balance checkbooks. CPAs want, for their clients, a more professional system – one that retains ease-of-use, but offers sophisticated capabilities that CPAs want for their clients – features not available from current market leaders."
» Fully e-commerce ready with Softline’s just-announced e-BusinessVision system.
» FShips with 16 available seamlessly integrated modules – payroll, AR and AP, General Ledger, Order Entry, POS and ten more – the BusinessVision 32 Small Business Edition has built-in functionality.
» FDesigned to be upgraded to Standard and Client-Server Editions as end-user companies grow.
» FIntegrates with market-leading CRM systems such as Outlook, ACT!, Maximizer and GoldMine.
» FThe system includes 150 report formats that are fully customizable.

"Revolutionary is an over-used term," Aston said, "but we have created an important evolutionary development, taking the functionality of large-corporation accounting systems and making it available to small business. This will enable CPAs to better serve and advise their smaller corporate clients, and will give small business executives the tools and capabilities to better manage their businesses. Priced for the market, BusinessVision 32 Small Business Edition will have a positive impact on CPAs and their clients."
